Creators, CAST & CREW
Uncharted Regions is the sole production of Swords & Circuitry Studios, a San Diego-based entertainment company founded by producers Neal Hallford & Jana Hallford. The cast are drawn from a repertory crew of local talents as well as from classic stars of science fiction, fantasy, and horror fame, including Star Trek: Enterprise's John Billingsley (Dr. Phlox) and Farscape's Gigi Edgley (Chiana). Geoffrey Thorne -- a writer best known for his work on Marvel's Eyes of Wakanda and The Librarians -- also contributed the audio play "Greyson's Door" to the first season.

Neal Hallford wrote and directed his first audio drama when he was only 17 years old for KTOW Radio in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Since then, he's had a successful 36 year career writing and designing for the computer gaming industry (Betrayal at Krondor, Dungeon Siege) and a further decade of experience as a indie filmmaker. But Neal still considers audio drama his favorite storytelling medium.

Producer / Writer Jana Hallford has been an arts and entertainment reporter for the La Jolla Light newspaper, a research contributor to the SciFi Channel, co-author of the book Swords & Circuitry Studios: A Designer's Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games, co-producer of the award-winning horror short The Case of Evil, and co-founder and producer of Uncharted Regions.

Actress "These Haunted Hills" (Alice) Gigi Edgley is an internationally renowned, Saturn-nominated actress, best known to fans of sci-fi for her role as Chiana on the acclaimed series, Farscape. She was host of Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge, and has appeared in countless film, television, and stage productions.

Actor "Haven" (Jacobson) John Billingsley has extensive credits on stage, television, and film. Best known to sci-fi fans as the charming and peculiar Dr. Phlox from Star Trek: Enterprise, he also had notable recurring roles on True Blood, and Prison Break. He returned to his galaxy-hopping roots with an appearance in the Star Trek-inspired hit series, The Orville.

Composer / Arranger Carvin Knowles has a wildly eclectic range of music credits ranging from Universal's American Pie to Sir Peter Jackson's thehobbitblog.com, and his music has appeared in over 25 feature films. In 2014, he provided the score for Swords & Circuitry Studios' horror short The Case of Evil. In 2017 Carvin became an award-winning filmmaker himself with The Funhouse Waltz.

Actor / Producer "Someday, Over You" (Reporter) A Chicago native, Kristin has been active both in front of and behind the scenes in a number of films and theatrical productions, including a number of short films including Harley Quinn's Summer Special. While living in San Diego, she was instrumental in launching the reboot of Uncharted Regions at the Horrible Imaginings Film Festival.

Writer Geoffrey Thorne is a master of multiple genres. He's been a writer for USA network's Law & Order: Criminal Intent, producer on both TNT's Leverage and The Librarians, and was the showrunner for Marvel's Black Panther animated series. He also co-created Phantom Canyon, an audio drama series from Pendant Productions.

Actor (Series Narrator) Daniel Pierce is a 8 year voice actor and actor living in Los Angeles, CA. With interest in H.P. Lovecraft and The Twilight Zone as his favorite television series, he feels right at home providing the voice of the series narrator for Uncharted Regions.

Actor "Haven" (Thorpe) "These Haunted Hills (Burke) Randy is a highly versatile actor/voice-over artist and has appeared in numerous commercials, TV shows, and movies including significant roles in both the movies Mank and The United States VS. Billie Holiday. He also voices The Cryptkeeper for Six Flags Theme Parks' Halloween Fear Fest.

Actor "Someday, Over You" (Foster), "These Haunted Hills" (Thorpe), "We Go Not Gently" (James) Patrick Gates has worked as an actor, singer, and dancer and was the 2012 Globe Honors winner for Best Actor, Spoken Word category. He's received the National Youth Arts award for Best Actor in a Musical 4 times. He also co-directed the show Geeks the Musical for PsyPhi Productions.

Actor / Talent Co-ordinator "These Haunted Hills" (Steves) Larry Nemecek is an actor, director, and author best known for his journalistic ties to the Star Trek franchise. He is the author of The Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion, was the editor of Star Trek Communicator magazine for several years, and appeared as Dr. McCoy in two episodes of the fan film series Star Trek Continues.

Actor "Someday, Over You" (Woody Hawkins) Ron Christopher Jones is the winner of Best Supporting Actor, at the 2016 San Diego Film Awards. Most known for acting in The List, The Deadliest Date, Undercovers, and his performance in the the 2017 San Diego Film Awards feature film winner, Thane of East County.

Actor / Sound Engineer "Someday, Over You" (Marlena Mathis) Uncharted Regions presents Devona Williams in her first dramatic role in "Someday, Over You." She's also a singer-songwriter, model, and audio engineer. Her first single, "Cherish," was released in 2005. As an audio engineer, she recorded and mixed multiple award winning, Grammy-nominated audio dramas, audio books, and video games.

Actor "These Haunted Hills" (Yasmin) Tamara Alsaied is an actress, singer, and model, beginning in 2005 with a series of Mazda 5 print ads. Tamara has been a lead performer in several plays and musicals, and in 2018, she won a National Youth Arts award for her performance of Mazie in the Trinity Theater Company's production of Seussical.

Actor "Haven" ("Aurora") Fedra Ramirez is a new actor in the San Diego theater scene, and provides the voice of The Computer in "Haven."

Actor "Someday, Over You" (Steve) Vander Turner is a San Diego native and graduate of the Theatre and Dance department at the University of California San Diego. A singer, actor, and incredibly energetic performer, Vander is a very enthusiastic member of the Uncharted Regions repertory team.

Actor "These Haunted Hills" (Young Alice) Performance is in Mary Grace Gregg's DNA. Her mother works full time as a voice over artist in Australia. Mary recorded her first VOs in 2016, and has since recorded for numerous projects across a variety of mediums. She is delighted to be making her audio drama debut with Uncharted Regions.

Actor "These Haunted Hills" (Father) Joe Paulson was classically trained at Northwestern, and at Alabama Shakespeare, and has performed professionally in New York and Chicago. He received critical acclaim for his roles as Mr. Dussell in Diary of Anne Frank (Moxie), as Jonathan in Arsenic & Old Lace (Broadway Theatre at the Welk), and as the lead in the horror short Life-O-Matic.

Donn Johnson has decades of experience working at KPBS, the San Diego affiliate of the Public Broadcasting System. He's also President at the Pacific Southwest division of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and serves as Adjunct Faculty at San Diego State University.

Associate Producer Keith Lane is a photographer, sci-fi geek, and all around tech-nerd. He is co-Founder of TG Squared Studios, a producer of multimedia entertainment. Keith was half of The Two Gay Geeks Webcast whose motto is “You name it, We talk about it.” ™ Sadly, Keith passed away in September of 2024.

Associate Producer Ben Ragunton is an accomplished musician both instrumental and vocal and is a sci-fi geek and podcasting nerd. He is co-founder of TG Squared Studios, a producer of multimedia entertainment. Ben was half of entertainment podcast, TG Geeks Webcast.

Associate Producer Billy Joe Cain has been in the business of entertainment and computer gaming since 1992, and has worked on a number of successful projects as a designer or writer including Wing Commander Prophesy and many others. Recently he founded the Radical Empathy Education Foundation to generate interactive experiences that open people's minds to the scourge of human trafficking, and released their first product, Trapped: A VR Detective Story, at the 2017 South by Southwest festival.

The original incarnation of Uncharted Regions began as the brainchild of Ron Bolinger (left) and Neal Hallford (right), and ran sporadically on KTOW Radio in Sand Springs, Oklahoma between 1987 - 1989.

Neal Hallford began work on rebooting Uncharted Regions in 2016, starting with the episode "Someday, Over You" which had been written for the original run, but had never been produced due to its complex production needs.
